The normal response I get to these reports of the Presidential Approval Index is that it only considers those who STRONGLY approve or disapprove, and that the TOTAL approval numbers are still in the majority. Up until now, that has been true.
Overall, 49% approve of Obama’s performance, and 50% disapprove.

Yay, people don't like Obama! :/ Gloating is not only disrespectful, it's unflattering. Congrats, the right-wing propaganda machine in which PA is an unmistakable TOOL is working.
ReplyDeleteThe impression I get that is that a significant number of people thought anyone would be a improvement over Bush...and simply voted for Obama. Eight months have passed, the car troubles came along the way, the stimulus, and the banking episode....so now...twenty percent of the folks who were friendly...aren't friendly anymore.
ReplyDeleteI would guess that he will be sitting there with 40 percent approval rating when 2012 rolls around. Getting a new VP might help...even dumping Hillary by that point might help.
It depends, Ripley. I think if he is unfortunate enough to get his health care and Cap & Tax bills passed, he hasn't a prayer of re-election. Heck, he may not even get the Dem nomination, his approval ratings will be so low.
ReplyDeleteIf, however, both current plans fail and he moves on to more reasonable solutions, then his numbers might actually improve. The falling numbers are a direct response to what we're seeing this administration try to accomplish... if his efforts change, so will the poll numbers.
