Despite Likely Passage, Public Opposes ObamaCare

According to the most recent Rasmussen polling data, the majority of Americans are opposed to the ObamaCare bills in Congress and think they will harm the country.

Among the results found:

Overall, Americans oppose ObamaCare 55% to 41%.

68% of Democrats support ObamaCare, but only 20% of Republicans and 36% of independents support it.

33% of senior citizens support it, with 60% opposed.

Though 19% of respondents STRONGLY support ObamaCare, 45% are strongly opposed.

57% of respondents think passing nothing would be better than passing the current legislation.

53% of voters believe that passage of the legislation will lead to a lower quality of care.

58% of voters believe that passage of the legislation will drive the cost of care up.

66% say an increase in free market competition will do more than government regulation to reduce health care costs.

Americans DO NOT WANT ObamaCare, as numerous polls have clearly shown. If, as Democrats believe, the majority should rule, then abandon ObamaCare now because the majority doesn't want it!

  1. First of all, if majority ruled, we would still have segregation in this state (or at least it would have lasted a lot longer). Second, the polls can be misleading as I reported on my blog yesterday. Many of those who oppose the bill think it does not go far enough.

  2. Joe, I didn't say the majority should rule. But liberals and Democrats often espouse that belief, so I was simply holding them to their own beliefs.

As to misleading polls, you're right and wrong. You're right because some opposition IS based on the bill not being liberal enough... but I don't care which side of the political spectrum you come from, as long as you oppose a bad bill. And you're wrong because polls showing high discontent with ObamaCare were around BEFORE liberals started defecting and condemning the bill. The more the public finds out about the bill, the less they like it.
