First, we have to realize that some high-ranking Islamic religious figures are just completely nuts. Crazy. Bonkers. Put 'em in a straight-jacket and lock 'em up loony.
Why do I say this? Because of the words uttered recently by an incredibly high-ranking Islamic cleric by the name of Hojatoleslam Kazem Sedighi in Iran... Tehran, to be specific.
"Many women who do not dress modestly...lead young men astray, corrupt their chastity and spread adultery in society, which (consequently) increases earthquakes."
Before we continue, go ahead and read that again... I want you to understand the level of lunacy that we're dealing with.

After he said that, a young lady "somewhere in the United States" decided to sponsor "Boobquake" yesterday. The idea was to test the theory by having young ladies across the nation dress immodestly by exposing cleavage... and see if there are any earthquakes.
So Boobquake took place yesterday, with many young ladies exposing some cleavage in the name of science. Here's a video interview of one such local gathering that took place in DC.

The only downside of this experiment in scientific immodesty is that there was, in fact, a 6.5 magnitude earthquake off the coast of Taiwan yesterday morning.

Monday morning a 6.5-magnitude earthquake struck the southeast coast of Taiwan, but no damages have been reported. The quake caused buildings to sway in Taipei for about 20 second and was felt at a landslide site in northern Taiwan.
One does wonder how American girls wearing immodest clothing caused an earthquake way over in Taiwan, but one must also admit that Boobquake did coincide with an actual earthquake. Maybe their aim was off...
We have three options here. We can:
1) Believe that what's-his-name was right.
2) Believe it was a pure coincidence.
3) Hold another Boobquake event and hope the next earthquake hits Tehran.

UPDATE: According to the organizer of BoobQuake, the number and severity of earthquakes on the 26th was within the statistical bounds of expected activity. In other words, Boobquake did NOT cause more earthquakes.
