Nearly two-thirds of Americans do not believe the $787 billion stimulus package the president passed last year has helped create jobs, according to a new Pew Research poll.
Sixty-two percent of those polled said the stimulus hasn’t contributed to job creation while 33 percent said the package has.
Only a slight majority, 51 percent, of Democrats think the stimulus helped create jobs, 42 percent said it has not. Seventy-nine percent of self-identified Republicans said the stimulus didn’t aide job growth while 18 percent think it did.
And although public opinion does not always reflect objective fact, in this case it does. A new survey of economists says that the massive expenditures in the stimulus did not, in fact, create jobs and economic growth.

The recovery is picking up steam as employers boost payrolls, but economists think the government's stimulus package and jobs bill had little to do with the rebound, according to a survey released Monday.
In latest quarterly survey by the National Association for Business Economics, the index that measures employment showed job growth for the first time in two years -- but a majority of respondents felt the fiscal stimulus had no impact.
NABE conducted the study by polling 68 of its members who work in economic roles at private-sector firms. About 73% of those surveyed said employment at their company is neither higher nor lower as a result of the $787 billion Recovery Act.
If you'll recall, passing the stimulus was hailed as the Democrat's first big success since Obama was elected. Now liberals discover what the rest of us knew all along, that the stimulus essentially wasted hundreds of billions of dollars to no effect. It did not achieve what we were promised it would achieve.
Now liberals are hoping that their second big success, ObamaCare, will fare better. Judging from recent revelations from CMS, the agency that runs Medicare, that won't be the case. Regardless of that fact, Democrats want to rush forward and pass Wall Street "reform," cap & tax, immigration amnesty, and a bevy of other initiatives that will be bad for this country.
I have no great love for Republicans, but we certainly need to do SOMETHING to stop this unceasing assault on everything that makes this country NOT Iran.
