Obama: "You've Made Enough Money"

For years I've asked a question and tried to get politicians, conservatives, and liberals to answer it. Given that government keeps asking for more money from the taxpayers, and given that the more they take the harder it is for us to make a living, how much money is "enough" for government?

I've never gotten a straight answer. Nobody wants to say "Give us X amount" or "Give us X percentage" and "that should be enough for government to spend." The reason nobody wants to give an answer is obvious... they want to leave the door open for future tax increases and perpetually increasing government spending.

Now PresBo has decided that, though government can never have "enough" money to spend, he gets to tell us when we puny individuals have earned "enough."

"Now, what we’re doing, I want to be clear, we’re not trying to push financial reform because we begrudge success that's fairly earned. I mean, I do think at a certain point you've made enough money."

Is he serious?

Apparently so, yes. He thinks that We The People have no right to set taxing and spending limits on government... but HE has the right to decide when we have earned "enough."

And I'd be interested in learning where he draws that line. How much IS "enough" for the rest of us? It would have to be more than $5 million a year, as that's what PresBo reported as income last year, and he has yet to voluntarily surrender any of it to the government.

Or is it just that there should be limits on what OTHER people earn, but not on him?

The hypocrisy here is staggering, isn't it?

  1. Allow me to re-write the title of this entry.

“President Obama, you’ve made enough money on our payroll, and you’ve spent far more of our money than our nation can afford, therefore, as of November 2012, you’re fired. Go find employment in the real world doing something you’re qualified for.

Signed: American voters who still pay taxes.”

  2. Just an observation...in your entire life...has anyone ever suggested the expression "...when you've made enough money..."?

    Seriously? I'm 51, and I can't recall anyone...even on TV...ever suggesting this to me.

It's kinda like suggesting "...when you've had enough beer...", or "...when you've had enough ribs...", or "....when you've had enough peach cobbler....".

  3. And notice, Ripley, that even though Obama believes it is possible for individuals like us to "make enough money", he clearly doesn't believe that there is a similar line for government revenues and spending.

Hypocrisy. And an indicator of how much danger this nation is in right now.

A former college professor of mine once admitted to me that he "didn't care" if the government ended up taking 100% of what he earned... he trusted them to spend it wisely and support him.

Even smart people aren't ALWAYS smart.
