School Teacher Says "Give Up The Bucks"

Here's the story. Illinois has a pretty bad budget deficit (i.e. they're spending a LOT more than they have) and either have to raise taxes or start cutting expenditures in their educational system. So school teachers were given time off to participate in a rally to support the tax increases. And this... wonderful teacher... ahem... decided to offer her take on the situation.

Is this really what it has come to? Government teachers chanting "give up the bucks" and "where's the cash, we need it fast?"

Does ANYBODY except me see a problem with this?

This woman who, regrettably, actually teaches Illinois children, embodies the entitlement attitude that pervades government today... Money doesn't belong to the taxpayers who earned it, it belongs to the government that "needs" it. And if we taxpayers don't agree with that, then there is something wrong with US.

I wish I could say I was surprised, but I'm not. Though most aren't so blatant about it, most school teachers would rather raise taxes than cut education spending.

So, to answer this woman's chanted question, I will answer. The money is in the hands of those who earned it, and regardless of your "need" you will not be allowed to steal it.
