This is a sad day, friends. Don Markwell, known as Dauntless Don, host of the Viewpoint show on WACV 1170 and a friend of mine, passed away last night from a long-time illness.
Back in the late 80's and early 90's, I used to listen and call in to talk radio. Don's show, yes, as well as Joe Marcus' show... Teddy Bear and the Broad. The handle I used back then was "Iceman." After quite a while, I was invited on the air as a guest host.
I only guest hosted for Marcus once or twice, and I pitched in with Matt Murphy a few times, as well. But Markwell asked me repeatedly to not only co-host with him, but also to guest host for him while he was on vacation.
I counted him as a friend, and I am saddened that he is gone.
Today is a sad day, friends... so bow your heads with me and remember Dauntless Don Markwell.
