The GOP is trumpeting victory because they reached a "budget deal" with the Democrats to cut some $38 billion in spending. However, many of the details had yet to be hashed out last weekend, and the final product wasn't actually revealed until about 2:00 AM this morning. Votes are scheduled for Thursday.
So, what's in the deal? First off, you have to realize that all the hype of another $38 billion in cuts... is a lie. Yup. That $38 billion figure includes the $12 billion in cuts already signed into law from early, short-term CR's. And this means that this new budget only secured an additional $26 billion in spending cuts... about a quarter of the $100 billion originally promised.
What else? Well, the budget deal included a rider that axed four of Obama's "czars": Gone are the czars for health care, climate change, autos and "Urban Affairs."
Another rider repeals two parts of ObamaCare: the Consumer Operated & Oriented Plan and the Free Choice Voucher program.
