When last I reported, the administration had issued some 1,039 such waivers. The Obama administration hasn't slowed down any, though, despite the controversy that at least 40% of those waivers went to political supporters of his, i.e. unions. Now they've issued another 129 waivers, almost half of which went to unions.

The Obama Administration has rolled out another 129 waivers to one provision of the new health reform law, with almost half of those new exemptions going to various union groups.
Almost half of the new round of waivers were given to union health benefit programs, a fact that is sure spur new complaints from health law critics in the Congress, who see these waivers as evidence that the Obama health plan is flawed.
Of COURSE ObamaCare is flawed... we've seen numerous examples. From the unconstitutional individual mandate to the 1099 provision to these numerous "necessary" waivers, "fixes" to this massively unwieldy monstrosity are absolutely mandatory... assuming we don't just repeal it.
There are two aspects to the waivers. The first is as Jamie Dupree observes, without exempting millions of Americans from the law, the impact of that law would harm each and every one of them. The second is that these waivers may well be issued on a political basis, with Democrat supporters receiving the lion's share of them. Face it, half of this latest round of waivers went to unions, which almost exclusively support Democrats for office.
So the Obama administration is continuing with its practice of politicizing our health care for their own benefit.
Gee, I didn't know "change we can believe in" would hurt so badly when it hit.

Aren't the waivers temporary?
ReplyDeleteI fail to see the importance of THAT, but yes, they are. Surely you aren't saying that exempting political supporters from a new law is fine and dandy so long as the exemption is temporary?
